This 6 week short term course gives an overview on all aspects of Cinema where history of vernacular, Indian and world cinema, film techniques, production procedures, role of a director, camera angles and movements and basic colour theory are taught.
The major topics covered in the course are Histories of global, Indian and Regional films, role of a Director, role of a cinematographer, sound and music in Cinema, The history of film editing, exposure, Light and Lensing, Design, Framing and Composition, Camera Angles and Camera Movements, Colour Theory Basics. It is absolutely an introductory course to understand the various aspects of cinema.
The course director, Dr.K. Gopinathan is an experienced teacher, author and a filmmaker. Other faculty members are also well-experienced in their area of specialization. The course is given 100% Online, so that you can learn at the comfort of your home. The course material can be accessed for six months that will help you to watch the same lessons multiple times to understand the concept thoroughly.
This will help self-paced and flexible kind of learning. On discussion forum, students can ask questions and working together to solve each other’s questions. As a student, what you need is an access to a computer or mobile device with an internet connection.
The basic qualification is Senior Secondary level and there is no age limit. Anyone who wants to learn film-making techniques, to polish their skills in craft, anyone who has a passion for cinema can do this course. New batches will start at the beginning of each month. After the course, the student will get the ability to read a film in a wider perspective. Journalists, researchers and filmmakers and other film-related people can develop better understanding of cinema as an industry, entertainment and pure art form.
