The Macedonian Student Ethnological Society (MSES) calls for submissions for student ethnographic film festival “ETNOFF 6”

The Macedonian Student Ethnological Society (MSES) is proud to announce the 6th edition of the International festival of student ethnographic films – “ETNOFF 6”, which is scheduled for October 2020 in Skopje.

The current COVID-19 crisis makes even short-term planning impossible. However, we hope to be able to host a socially (and physically) un-distanced event. In case this proves impossible, ETNOFF 6 will be hosted online.

More than 100 movies were presented during the previous festival’s editions, created by students of ethnology and anthropology, as well as related disciplines, depicting significant social, political and cultural issues. ETNOFF has thus become an important event for young film makers around the world, as well as a stepping stone for promotion of local visual researchers and authors.

The application guidelines for this year are the same – if you are a social sciences or visual arts/film student on any academic level, and you have created a short movie telling an interesting story that is ethnographically and/or anthropologically relevant, we invite you to send us your work, via password protected download link. The application should also contain the film’s title, duration, a short description, and credits. Important: All movies should contain English subtitles.

Please send your applications to etnoff@gmail.com no later than AUGUST 15TH, 2020. Visit Facebook page of Etnoff

You will receive a notification on your submission immediately after the selection process. Unfortunately, our funds are not sufficient to cover the participation of foreign authors. However, we would be happy to help finding an accommodation for the ones who would like to be present, and to organize QA sessions after the screening of their movies.

ETNOFF is a festival combining screenings and a visual anthropology workshop. A call for the workshop will be issued later on.
