Press Conference: Inauguration of IFFT-Orange OTT platform and Kerala’s first e-learning film school on November 1

A press conference by IFFT-Orange officials announced the Kerala’s first e-learning film school , a joint venture of International Film Festival Thrissur (IFFT) and Orange Film Academy & Research Centre, and an exclusive OTT/Virtual screen platform. Both will be launched in an online fuction on Sunday, 1st November,2020.

While renowned filmmaker Shaji N Karun inaugurates the Orange Film Academy and Research Centre at 7pm on Sunday, an exclusive OTT/Virtual Screen platform of Orange Film Academy will be launched by P.V. Unnikrishnan, Strategic advisor, K-DISC.

Film critic and author Aruna Vasudev, famous author Sarah Joseph, Dr. K.L. Joy, Principal St. Thomas College (Thrissur), Chelavoor Venu, FFSI Vice President, T. Krishnanunni, Chairman, Orange Film Academy and Dr.K. Gopinathan, Trustee, Orange Film Academy  will deliver felicitation speeches in the function. Mohan Paul Kattookkaran, poet PN Gopikrishnan, Orange Film Academy CEO Cherian Joseph, Paul Kattookkaran, PK Jayan (trustees, Orange Film Academy) will also speak in the function. While A. Radhakrishnan, treasurer, will deliver vote of thanks, Cherian Joseph will do welcome speech.

IFFT (International Film Festival Thrissur), Kerala’s second biggest and longest Film Festival, and Orange Film Academy is going to launch online courses on various topics of filmmaking from November 1. This is a first innovative venture in the history of film societies. The online courses will be delivered on IFFT-Orange Film Academy platform. While St. Thomas College, Thrissur will be the knowledge partner, the ICTAcademy of Kerala Thiruvananthapuram will be the technology partner of this initiative.

Academy offers one-year diploma, 6-month-long certificate Course and 6-8 week-long short-term courses. Currently Digital Film Production is offered as a Diploma course.

  14. Cinema and Folklore and
  15. Curating Film Festival.

 

“An array of experienced faculty members including national award winning Sound Designer T. Krishnanunni, India’s most renowned editor Sreekar Prasad, Bollywood’s editing experts Steven Bernard, Shan Mohammed, C.G. Sri Guha, former Director of Doordarshan Dr.C.K. Thomas, famous editor A.V. Narayanan, national award winner Jayadevan Chakkadath, Sate award winners Ajit George, Arun Varma, Subramanian KV, Isaac Thomas Kottukappilly, an experienced cinematographer  P.J. Cheriyan, well-known academician and film critic  Madhu Eravankara, Chennai-based director-cum-teacher Sivakumar Mohanan will be there to deliver classes,” said the organisers.

IFFT-Orange’s new venture, an OTT/Virtual screen platform will be launched in December. With this venture, the Organisers not only intend to create a platform for the release of good cinema, but also attract good viewers towards good cinema. As most of the theatres remain shut amid the ongoing Covid19 pandemic, this new OTT/virtual screen platform will enable the smooth release of good cinema.
