03 Nov Orange Film Academy inaugurated
Thrissur: Orange Film Academy, Kerala’s first e-learning school for film studies, was inaugurated by filmmaker and KSFDC Chairman, Shaji N Karun in an online ceremony on Sunday.
“As far as cinema is concerned, learning is the most relevant thing. Nowadays the idea that exists there is that Cinema can be created more easily than that of olden times. But this way of thinking is a big stupidity,” he said.
“Though technology did not grow this much when I was studying in Pune Film Institute, there were science of motion pictures and magnetic reproduction tape etc. So, a filmmaker should learn not only the science behind the movie, but also how to implement these technologies productively,” Shaji N Karun added.
Orange Film Academy’s (OFA) OTT platform was inaugurated by P.V. Unnikrishnan, the strategic advisor, K-Disc. “The OTT platform with the state-of-the-art-technology presented by the Orange Film Academy will not only exist during Covid 19, but even after the pandemic,” he said.
“Asian films have become the best films of the world and the last year’s Oscar-winning movie from South Korea, ‘Parasite’ is a classic example,” said Arun Vasudev, film critic, author and jury of many international film festivals, in her felicitation speech.
Krishnanunni, Chairman, Orange Film Academy, presided over the function. Chelavur Venu, Vice President, FFSI, Dr.K.L. Joy, Principal, St. Thomas College, Thrissur, Dr. K. Gopinathan (trustee-OFA), P.K. Jayan(trustee-OFA) , Mohan Paul Kattookkaran(trustee-OFA), Paul Jos Kattookkaran(trustee-OFA), Poet P.N. Gopikrishnan (trustee-OFA) all spoke on the occasion. Cherian Joseph, CEO, Orange Film Academy welcomed the chief guests at the ceremony and A. Radhakrishnan, Treasurer, Orange Film Academy proposed a vote of thanks.
First course, 8-week long ‘Elements of Direction’ was launched from Monday, November 2 by director and teacher Shivakumar Mohanan. The other courses to be launched in the coming days are as follows:
