INTERNATIONAL ONLINE SHORT & DOCU FILM FESTIVAL COMPETITION extended to SEPTEMBER 21-23

The International Online Short & Documentary film festival competition jointly organized by Orange Film Academy and Research Centre and International Film Festival Thrissur (IFFT) has been postponed to September 21,22,23.

Earlier it had been planned to conduct the festival from September 10-12. Though the festival dates were extended, the deadline for the submission of entries to the festival competition has ended on September 7. 21 films that include both short and documentary films have been chosen for the competition section.

“The new decision was based on the wide discussion about how to conduct a film festival effectively in the backdrop of the Covid19 Pandemic. According to the Union government’s new decision as part of Unlockdown 4, up to 100 people can be participated in the public functions from September 21 onwards with the strict overview of social distancing and wearing masks. So we extended the dates from September 10-12 to September 21-23,” said Cherian Joseph, CEO, Orange Film Academy & Research Centre.

The theme of the Film Festival competition is ‘Alone, together’. Despite a Covid 19 pandemic scenario and a theme-based festival,  21 films has been reached for participating in the festival competition section. Festival Director Damodar Prasad had earlier made it clear the reason behind fixing a theme ‘Alone, Together’ for the festival.  “We have selected this theme of “Alone, Together” as an emotion, feeling that could capture the virus infected times that we pass through. With the lockdown, the States were resolute in keeping people safe at their homes. But the homeless were the abandoned lot. Contact and Positive became words with negative and bad consequences,” Damodar Prasad said.
