FFSI Keralam’s online festival of Satyajit Ray films begins

The Online Festival of Satyajit Ray films oragnised by the Federation of Film Societies of India, Keralam has begun on Thursday, August 20 to mark the 100th birth anniversary of legendary filmmaker, Satyajith Ray.

The film festival began with the screening of Satyajit Ray’s first and classic film ‘Pather Panchali’ (1950) and film critic I.Shanmughadas introduced cinema to the audience. Ganashatru (1989) was shown  on Friday, August 21. The other classic films of Ray to be screened on the coming days are as follows:

Charulatha(1964) on Saturday August 22, Jalsaghar(1958) on Sunday August 23, Teen Kanya(1961) on Monday August 24, Aranyer Din Ratri(1970) on Tuesday August 25, and Agantuk(1991) on Wednesday August 26.

Through the screening of these Ray films, FFSI Keralam hopes to create a new cadre of Satyajit Ray fans in the younger generation of film viewers and filmmakers. The films can be watched on the FFSI Facebook page and its YouTube page.
