A pioneer when the sound recording technology started shifting from analogue to digital, Vinod P.S. knows that accepting changes in technology is important in moving ahead of the curve as a sound engineer. He was ahead of the curve when he got training in SSL 9000 series Mixing console, SSL OmniMix (fully digital audio-video premium workstation) from SSL own trainers from UK, and Protools Mix Digital audio workstation decades back.
He worked in the studios of Koteswara Rao, Nageswara Rao, Bollywood actor Dharmendra and worked for music directors Keeravani, Raj, Rajamani, Berny-Ignatious, Ouseppachan, Raveendran, Kaithapram, Alex Paul, Vidya Sagar, Biji Pal, Gopi Sundar, Shan Rahman, Mohan Sithara, and M M Sreelekha. Later came back to home state, Kerala where he worked for a long time for Lal Media Arts, Kochi Chief Sound Engineer/Consultant. He was heading the technical and marketing team for Lal Media for implementing Qube Digital cinema system in Kerala in 2006. Qube has been installed in 300 centres in Kerala. He was also instrumental in implementing the first 2 K DI Color correction facilities in Kerala.
He is currently working as an HoD, Department of Audiography, at K R Narayanan National Institute Of Visual Science and Arts (K R N N I V S A) in Kerala. His exploration of technology did not stop there. A studio on wheels– a mobile studio, where professional can do color correction, editing and dubbing, the latest concept designed and executed by Vinod is in demand with the latest film ‘Fukri’, an Amazon Prime release, directed by Siddique was realized under this technology.
